StyleWeekOC Returns to Fashion Island for the Mall’s 55th Anniversary

Saturday is the day to be at Fashion Island at this year’s StyleWeekOC – the 11th such iteration since the event began and the mall’s 55th anniversary.

The weekend-long campaign kicked off on Wednesday with a private fashion show at Nieman Marcus, announcing in this year’s theme “Luxury Layers” tempting fashionistas with a look at this year’s hottest and upcoming trends. season.

The show benefited CASA OC, a Santa Ana nonprofit that helps abused, neglected, and abandoned children through advocacy and volunteerism. Leyla Vokhshoori, vice president of brand marketing, confirmed on Friday that approximately 10% of sales made Wednesday from CASA members at Nieman Marcus will go to the nonprofit.

“This year’s looks showcased the best of fashion from our fall campaign…which encourages customers to live in the moment, find everyday luxury and stay true to their personal style without compromise,” Vokhshoori said.

“Fall must-haves featured in the show were leather jackets, platform heels, bold colorways and structured silhouettes from high-profile designers like Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Alexander McQueen, Versace and Valentino,” said said Vokhshoori. “Fashion is all about self-expression, and we hope this year’s show inspired attendees to embody confidence and optimism through their fashion choices.”

Returning this year after a pandemic-related break, the fashion and beauty panels organized by Simply. Four panels will be held on the lawn in front of Nieman Marcus, with the first scheduled for 12 p.m. Three more will follow at the start of each new hour until 4 p.m.

Simply founder Sarah Boyd said her company has been in touch with Fashion Island throughout the pandemic. Boyd said this was the fourth official year that Simply and Fashion Island have collaborated for StyleWeekOC.

“We formed a really good partnership because they loved what we were doing,” Boyd said. “Our panels were all about kindness, connection, fashion, beauty and content creation…it was a really organic partnership. They were looking to bring these amazing speakers and celebrities into their space and have them there. creating a community. Working together, we were then able to bring our audience and fan base to Orange County, which was great.

Boyd said organizing for panels this year began in June, with participants finalizing in August.

Speakers on Saturday include co-founders of activewear brand Joja, Josephine Skriver and Jasmine Tookes, and co-founders of Favorite Daughter, Sara and Erin Foster. Also included are a number of fashion and beauty experts, influencers and TV personalities. The talks are free, but people are asked to register through the Simply or Fashion Island website.

“StyleWeekOC is a very important tent pole for Fashion Island. It’s the Orange County and Newport Beach fashion event that people look forward to every year. It’s something [Fashion Island] invests a lot of time and resources. It brings the community together,” Boyd said. “A lot of people have been through different times in their lives over the past couple of years, they might want to get inspired to start their new business or come with their friends and check out the latest trends.

“I know personally that I’m always looking to improve and learn… we’re in a time where people just want to keep improving in so many different ways and that’s a great way to do that and also to get better. connect,” she concluded.

StyleWeekOC will continue until the end of Sunday.
